Master of Fashion

Turning 90 years old with a fashion empire Giorgio
Armani has cemented his status as a legendary designer fearless entrepreneur, and dedicated philanthropist—leaving an impressive legacy.
Born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza Italy Giorgio Armani Raimondi’s childhood was shaped by the challenges of World War II, which prompted his family to flee their hometown for a nearby Italian village.
In his youth, Giorgio developed a passion for pho- tography, though it remained a hobby. He secured a scholarship to study medicine at the University of Mi- lan but interrupted his studies to serve in the military at just 23 years old.
After his military service, in 1961, Giorgio began working as a window display designer and salesman at La Rinascente, Italy’s renowned luxury department store. It was here that Giorgio discovered his passion for fashion and subsequently joined Nino Cerruti’s atelier as a designer. During his time at Nino Cerruti, Giorgio honed his craft, leading him to design and tailor a jacket. Following this stint, he ventured out on his own, establishing the esteemed Armani label in the 1970s.
